Car Problem : Ask the Expert

Currently I live in Navi Mumbai and I plan to buy a wagon R CNG Lxi. My average running is approx 750-850km per month. Mine is a transferable job and if I move to a place where CNG is not available, can I remove the CNG kit and use the boot space. Does the removal of factory fitted CNG create any technical problem? Is it safe? Also I would rate myself as a single matured good driver and intend to keep my car for a minimum of next 12-14 years. Is the CNG option wagon R go in less maintenance. I read somewhere that the average life of CNG kit approx 5-6 years. Is it so? Please advice as I am very confused. My father owns a Maruti 800 which is 23 years old and still in very good condition. I want to follow the footsteps of my father.

Yes, you can remove the CNG kit and use your vehicle. It is safe and no technical issue is there in that case. The life of engine of any vehicle cannot calculated on age vise but it is on running vise in 12 years as per your car will run on app. 1,40,000kms and there will be no problem on that with CNG.

I have purchased Honda brio in April 2012. Every day in the morning when I drive first 15 min. or 10 kms, it has giving me hard gear shift. When i go downward from 3rd to 2nd or 2nd to 1st, after some time it runs smoothly. I shown to company, they did some job but couldn’t solve. Now they deny that there is problem. Do I get any Expert driver to conform the problem so that I can take 3/4 opinions and forward to HONDA or lodge the complaint to Consumer Forum.

Hard gear shifting in starting and smooth running afterwards is a problem if u feels they have to clear it. Because when there is some problem than customer goes to workshop you also don’t have excess time to waste with them. They should realize that and do the needful.

Yes, you can get CNG kit fitted in fiat palio Tomessto Argentina is the best kit now a days. Be sure get fitment done by government authorized fitment centre only and get the same endorsed in the regn. book and insurance. For the dealer you can visit the website of transport deptt. Delhi govt.

My Wagon R gets stopped when AC is on and it is running on CNG, it happens when I press the clutch to change gear to lower gear. Please suggest as the car's RPM also dies down after 25 -30 km of RPM setting done.

Please get the vehicle tuned on petrol & throttle and injector clean and air filter, plug checked your problem will be solved if not than plug wire and AC valve to be checked.

My power brakes seem to have lost their "power" -- it used to break strongly even on mild application on brake pedal for 1st two years (2010-11) until recently - the power seems to have gone out of power breaks - I got my power brake pad changed, all steering/alternator belts replaced at mode Hyundai: BUT still no change!! Can u help out? I seem to be not getting the engine power transmitted to break system!

get your vehicle inspected at Hyundai owned workshop and it seems that low rpm could be reason for the brakes not working otherwise master cylinder and booster of the brake system needs checking.

I have Ford Fiesta 2006 EXI petrol. From last couple of months there is some metal rubbing sound coming from engine. After getting it checked the ford dealer is saying the head gasket has gone and need to be replaced and there need to open engine to check if any damage. The noise does not come when speed is around 30-40 Kamp. Please suggest what to do since the ford dealer gave me estimate of 35,000 + for repair

The situation you described is showing that u have to go for the head overhaul and my suggestion is that you should get it done by the dealer only

Which brand use for engine oil and grade in my Honda city zx vtec 2006 model, its covers 62000 km and now I fitted it CNG normal kit on 10-june-2012.

You can use normal engine oil 20 w 50 and if u want some better one you can go for synthetic engine oil

CNG kit in swift is good enough but you have to see if your vehicle is with normal engine than you can got fitted the conventional kit which is approx: Rs. 27000\- and if your vehicle is equipped with k series engine than u have to get sequential kit fitted which is approx: Rs. 52000\-
