Nice to see this website, I have a problem with my Tata Indica Vista Quadrajet which I bought in 2010 May, I have driven it for just around 6000 kms and the car is still under warranty. Recently I have shifted to Mumbai and my car was lying for almost a month untouched, obviously the battery went down, I have recharged the battery but now I find still the car is not starting, it does take the shelf and engine makes noise, i have called 2 mechanics , one electrical and one mechanical, mechanical guy has confirmed that there is not a mechanical problem, on his recommendation I called the electrical guy as bit of water had entered into the car through my window which was a bit open and there was lot of moisture inside the car. They both confirmed that the current is not reaching the fuel pump of the car they confirmed fuel pump is working fine. Now they checked the current on the fuse box below the steering and it was confirmed that current was not reaching there, all other fuses are ok nothing shorted as well, he then checked the fuse box and the connections in front bonnet and he confirmed that current was generated fine and the relays were also ok but current was not seeing near the become in the fuse box which is below the steering. He also connected auto diagnostic software called V-checker but unable to find the fault. Do you have any idea on what could be problem and how to approach it, also my car insurance has expired can it impact my warranty or they are mutually exclusive?.
Dear Harsh, There can be only two issues related to starting either current or fuel is not flowing in the designed fashion. I suggest getting in touch with nearest Tata authorized service station for assistance. Do not get into local solution by local technicians as they are not fully equipped with the technology. The diagnostics available in the market are not fully capable of diagnosing root cause rather tata motors diagnostic tool can reach to minute details. Your car is well under warranty and it has nothing to do with insurance. The issue is very minor and can be taken care by Tata Motors representative. They will visit your place for assistance. ....................................................................................................... ............................... Done all the research, checked everything and get the fuel pump calibrated but still facing same problem .after spending so much of time the problem still persist. My car gives mileage of not more than 13 even in highway.
What you suggest should I show the car to local mechanics because my experience with Tata is really bad and my car is still under extended warranty.

...................................................................................................................................... The Problem which I am facing with my CNG Car occurs one out of 20 times, but it is really very very irritating.
Problem: Some days back, I tried to do selfs battery ad tried to start the ignition. But I was really surprised that ignition could not had happen. Morover there were no lights on the CNG switch. I had repeated tried 5-6 times, but nothing happens. Also I got my car serviced recently from Hyundai Service Centre and Battery was also OK with required gravity. After waiting for an hour, I tried to give my last attempt. This time, all of the sudden, the CNG switch light starts blinking and was able to start the ignition.
The same problem was also experienced by me around 4 months back.
One thing was common in both the incidents : Hot and Humid Condition.
Somebody please help me the root cause of the problem as I had not faced this issues in the past in my same car without CNG Kit installed.

starter motor not giving the required voltage at the time of cranking.
Battery specific gravity
if you use CNG regularly then IAC valve becomes sticky and that also causes poor staring.
Please take the following precaution while starting your day and if you are already doing this then we suggest you to consult the workshop again and ask them to check the status of the battery again because due to regular cranking ,the any of the cells in the battery gets over heated and due to this late starting problem comes as well. We will suggest you to run the car at least for 4-5 kms on petrol when yoy start your day and then shift to CNG. Even when ever you start your car after a gap of 4-5 hours ,then first 1-2 kms run the car on petrol and then switch over to CNG and also when you are reaching home at the end of the day then pls make sure that last 3-4 kms should be on petrol again .Pls go for engine oil change after every 5 thousand kms to have safe and better engine life.

Thanks for writing to Meri Car,further as you want to get the whole car painted,the approx.charges for the single pannel is Rs.2600+/-Rs.400 depending upon the pannel size. In car you have got 4 paneels on left side,4 pannels on right side + 3 pannels-Bonnet ,roof and back door. Total there are 11 pannels and if both bumpers are also colored then total there are 13 pannels and the charges comes 33800/- but normally companies has got special charges for the complete car,pls speak to the workshop manager to get good deal and you can get an offer of 28K +/- 3K.

Before going for the fittment pls check at least 2-3 outlets that which particular brand is suitable for Honda and ensure that kit , wiring ,valves and contols should be imported.

My car is not starting while I go out side ,and i will start if I stopped the car for 30 minutes, when the engine is coll it starts immediately , could u tell me what is the problem?
As you have mentioned that there is starting problem in hot condition and when you wait foe 30 minutes then it get started,this can be because of the following reasons

Further as you have mentioned that the car has already done 60K and at this stage if we talk about normal paid service then it should cost you 6k but final invoice value can not be given because you have not mentioned the condition of the vehicle like how is the suspension,how is the condition of Hose pipes and other parts which are prone to wear & tear. The best thing to get the exact price is that pls go the the authorised workshop and ask the technical advisor to drive the car and then you can get the right cost and time estimate. ...................................................................................................................................... Normally this is because of thermostat switch but as you have mentioned that you have got it replaced then you need to get it rechecked and ask the workshop electrical person to check the wiring which is giving supply to themostat switch. as for as ECM cost is concerned ,it will be approx. 1.Poor condition of tyres
2.Different make of tyres at front side
3.Different age tyres at front
4.Precautionary pls go to any workshop and ask them to check mount bushes,shockers ,wheel rims and front disc as well. If possible pls get the allignment done as well for better tyre life.

Thanks for writting to meri Car,further as you have mentioned that you are currently having Swift and now you want to go for new car -Petrol/Diesel. Lets compare the rates of all the fuels:
petrol- 52/-and normal average is 13Per/Km so the cost per km is- Rs.4/-(Approx.)
Diesel-34/- and normal average is 16 per/Km so the cost per km is- Rs.2.25/-(Approx.)
CNG- 25/- and normal average is 18-20/km so the cost per Km is - Rs.1.50/-(Approx.)
Now with the above details you can decide which fuel suits your budget. Personally spaeaking if I have swift with 50k mileage then I will go for complete maitenace of the car including painting if required then i will go for CNG.

recently car had cold start trouble means in morning it was taking 4-5 self to start. It was found out that there is compression diff in 2 cylinders. Thank you for writting Meri car,further as you ahve mentioned that the car has already done 71k and started giving you trouble in the morning. Pls go and get the spark plug and battery checked because if they are not functioning as per the requirement then the extra load goes to the engine . Ask the workshop supervisor to check the ignition coils and timing as well. Now onwards change engine oil after every 5000kms and as per the recommendation of service manager pls put engine oil additive also because this will help to improve and maintain the better engine life.

I own 2002 Lancer Petrol & run 96,000 KMs so far. It gave exceptionelly good service. One month back, sent vehicle to local garage for preventive maintenance. After that it started showing some electrical problem like beep- beep sound even when it is totally off. Also a yellow icon on when ever I drive vehicle. It seems that cooling fan also stopped working. Mechanic said that problem is with ECM & get it tunes at show room. But we don\'t have any show room in Hyderabad so he made some direct wiring & fitted an external sensor to control fan movement.
Now vehicle is running fine but started consuming heavy fuel ( hardly 5 KMPL). its emitting black smoke. Mechanic want me to replace ECM, which costs app. 40,000/-. Can some one help me?
Thanks for writting to Meri car,further as you have mentioned that car has done 96k so this does not mean that something is wrong with the ECM .Its true that it conrols the electronic functions of the car but I am failed to understand that there is no direct connection of ECM with fan working . If some part is not functioning properly and if you get it replaced then you are not violating the warrant conditions. In case if the vehicle is under warrant period (check time and mileage limit) and then even you don't have to pay for it.

Overall I am happy with the performance. But the pickup is very less below 1500~2000 rpm. In 3rd gear the pickup is very good. There is nothing wrong with your car below 1500-2000 rpm because when you run the car in lower gears and at low rpm then turbo does not work but as soon as you reach 2000 rpm then it starts and gives you better pick and speed.

We are sorry to hear about the accident of your car. Further as you have mentioned that bus has rubbed both doors but still doors are functioning properly,so in that case it is bit difficult to say that you should go for new doors or repairs without seeing the photographs. If possible send the photographs so that we should be able to judge the extent of damage and accordingly the best advise will be given to you but still if the impact has not damaged the curls &curves of door then you should get it repainted from any authorised TATA dealer. As for as the painting charges are concerned ,it will be only EXCESS CLAUSE according to the CC of the car. Up to 1300cc it is five hundred and above that it is one thousand or more and 100% Painting charges will be taken care by insurance company but in case there is any plastic item which need to be replaced will be shared 50:50 by you and Ins. company.

My car giving jerks when I drive it on petrol as I have CNG installed as well. I can hardly drive it on Petrol as it gives heavy jerks and then it stps in the mid of road. I got my Injector checked as they are fine.
On the basis of information provided the main cause can be timing. Whenever the CNG fittment centre technician fixes the kit they generally advances the vehicle timing and most of the time vehicle does not drive smoothly on petrol.You can go to any Authorised Tata Motors service centre and asked them to set the timing on petrol and then you have to again go to CNG cemtre to get the CNG timing reset but this time you have to tell them that they should set the timing very carefully so that it should not completely disturb the petrol setting.

First of all let me tell you that this is not a problem, it’s a natural process. Let’s compare the situation - if you pour cold water in a glass then immediately you can see water bubbles on the outer surface of the glass similarly this thing happens in car also when the internal temperature of the surface becomes very low in comparison to outer temp. Then condensation takes place and it takes the shape of fog and generally it happens in rainy days or the days when humidity is above 80%. Please take one precaution that please makes sure that the flow of the air should not hit any of the glass (front windshield and Left and right front door glass). At night time please turn the direction of the vents towards the roof will also help you to avoid this fog on glass. Please check it and give us your feedback.

1.yes you can go for lpg but go for imported kit along with imported wiring and
valves only. The availability of lpg station is very less so we suggest you to
go for cng. Only precaution you should take is that morning you start the car on
petrol and drive minimum. 5 kms on petrol and then switch over to cng and the same
same at the end of the day. please follow the same in case of lpg.

As you have mentioned that you have got it checked from some workshop and they have told you that the complete assembly needs to be replaced. Replacing the complete assembly is not the solution because EPS is not a single part. It a assembly of four parts :-
