Ford proposes to pay $30M to settlement transmission lawsuit
According to media reports, Ford is proposing to pay at least $ 30 million to settle a class-action lawsuit filed by Fiesta and Focus car owners.
About $ 2 million represents current or former owners of the 2011-2016 Ford Fiesta or the 2012-16 Ford Focus Dual-Clutch PowerShift Six-Speed ??Transmission. Proponents of Ford’s internally known transmission shrink, shake or shake when changing gears, sometimes the vehicle slows down, is unexpectedly neutral, and many customers pay for multiple expensive repairs.
In addition to payment, the solution outlines an easy way for consumers to be compensated for a repurchase program for defective cars. The Federal Court of Appeals rejected the settlement, saying it would replace the previously proposed solution, which was unfair to consumers and overly generous to lawyers.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Ford filed a lawsuit in October that said it spent nearly $ 48 million to buy 2,666 vehicles between the end of October 2017 and 2019. Freeze has previously said that Ford employees were discouraged from talking about the issues and knew the cars would go on sale.
In August, the Ford Clutch Warranty extended the 2014-16 Focus and Fiesta models for a total of seven years or 100,000 miles.
